The never ending saga of a tank lost in specific gravity! A 50gal Oceanic saltwater fish tank is located in my living room.
This camera is pointing into the tank from the back into the center of the live rock pile. I chose this spot because the fish and shrimp seem to move through there frequently. For the time being I have set the camera up to be one all the time. However, the image may not be viewable because of the tank’s lighting schedule which is set to start sunrise at 12:30pm with full sun at 1:00pm then sunset at 11:30pm with dusk at 11:00pm with moonlight on all the time. Also, to allow the tank to have a proper dark cycle, I frequently cover it with black cover. When it is in this state it is know as Special Project F.
I have had this tank setup since 2000 as salt, before that it was freshwater only. You will read people suggesting to “go big” when you start. I can agree with this from personal experience, I wasted a lot of time and money trying to keep it small. Now I am eying the ability of a 150 gallon tank to fit into my home! It is simple chemistry: larger water volumes are more stable. Corals like stability!

Ahhh you got a Sebea! NICE! Is it for your clowns? Or did you get rid of them? katie said you were tired of them, I though maybe they were sacrificed to the fishey gods….
Oh I see now, you got rid of the Oselaris clowns and got tomatoes! NICE! I have a pair of tomatoes too…

Still have the Urchin? I don’t see him. Thought I saw aspin earlier but I think I was seeing things. How are the tomatos liking the Sebea? Are they loving it to death? My pair loved a bubble tip to death

That urchin was about 3/4″ when I got it 2 month ago. It is now HUGE and I might have to get rid of it because it is just so big!
The urchin was taken back to the shop, it was too large for my tank and started to knock everything over. In a couple month it grew huge! I traded it for some smaller pincushion ones. I have two tomatoes, yes. The anemone is a western Australian one with a neat coloration. Getting an anemone to settle can take a number of tries. My only thought is that the clowns have to be small compared to the anemone and the tank needs to be kind of cold (in the low 70’s).
HAHAHAHA a few people seemed to be looking at the same time on Friday and contact me to tell me they saw me near the tank! I was acclimating a new piece of coral.
