Sports Stars Are Serious Idiots
Posted by Nathan in Ramblings, tags: Hero, Meathead, SportsI look forward each year to listen to the meathead sports casters tell us how amazing it is that professional sports players and pseudo professionals (aka college - lets not fool ourselves, college athletes that get on the major news are not amateurs) take the time out to volunteer at soup kitchens and the like. Good for them. I am happy they are able to step outside themselves for a moment.
The second a 5 minutes tv spot with them spouting PR cleansed platitudes is produced the cosmic deal book is left in arrears.
These people are sub-human-decerebrates paid to perform like circus animals. They are not heroes. They are no role models, unless you are a Russian bear. They are not people for us to hold up as paragons for anything other than smart contract negotiation skills, and odds are they paid a lawyer for that.
